Township of Long Hill

Long Hill Residents,

We have heard from many residents in the community today with questions on when to expect power to be restored. We have been informed by JCP&L they do not have restoration estimates to provide and with the winter storm yesterday crews could not continue work on outages from Storm Riley. Unfortunately as a result of the heavy snow and trees down we incurred a large number of new outages, live wires down requiring response priority today for life and safety hazards.

I have just received the following update from our area representative as of 8:00 PM this evening.

JCP&L crews spent the day working down orders from Friday’s storm and responding to road closure reports, hazard calls and inspecting our circuits from yesterday’s storm.

More line crews continued to arrive while some line crews had to return to local utilities to respond to their own customers.  Currently we have 4,400 workers on this storm.

Current outage totals for the Chatham’s, Long Hill, and Florham Park. These counts may improve as job close out this evening.
Florham Park Borough   1,263
Chatham Borough            1,759
Chatham Township         1,872
Long Hill Township          2,078

We will continue to work closely with our Area Representatives and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management to ensure they are aware of the service issues. If you have not already done so – report your outage.

We will open a warming/charging center again tomorrow in the Municipal complex starting at 10:00 AM.

For any emergencies please call 911. Please feel free to call the office or email if we can be of assistance.
