- Garbage collection begins at 6:00 a.m. each day. Routes vary, and times of arrival will vary. Garbage trucks give a few minutes warning of their approach.
- Residents are cautioned that, in our semi-rural environment, nocturnal wild animals WILL find your garbage if you put it out the night before.
- Grand Sanitation is the garbage/recycling pickup contractor. Missed garbage collection: email the contractor at firstname.lastname@example.org
- If garbage or recycling collection is not collected on your scheduled day due to inclement
weather please leave it curbside and it will be collected the next day.
Fact: In addition to the costs of the contractor to pick up your garbage, we have to pay an additional $95.50 per ton at the Transfer Station to have the garbage hauled to a landfill in Pennsylvania. That charge includes the operation of the transfer station, contractors to haul the garbage to Pennsylvania, the landfill charges, and the taxes that Pennsylvania imposes on imported garbage.
Fact: Long Hill sends about 3000 tons of garbage to the transfer station each year.
